Welcome to Fatma Ezzahra Besbes
The Guédot Lab is thrilled to welcome Fatma Ezzahra Besbes as our new PhD student.
Background and research interests
Tunisian by blood and soul, I’m taking this unique opportunity miles away from home for the only sake of knowledge and science. I am an Agronomic Sciences engineer
with a minor in Plant Health from the National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia and a holder of a MS degree in Precision Integrated Pest Management in fruit and vegetable crops from CIHEAM Bari.
As part of both Guédot and Holland Labs, my research interests align to the following questions. How do insects interact with each other as a population, with their host plant and with other organisms ? How to be able to elaborate proper sustainable management strategies to ensure a balanced environment ? I believe that the answers to these questions would be of high consideration for the scientific community as a consistent source of information for current and future IPM-related studies.
Project topic
My doctorate’s project focuses on understanding the role social wasps play in facilitating cluster rot infections in vineyards.
Personal interests
I’m a life enthusiast who enjoys life in its smallest details. I’m keen on photography, music, art, worldwide cuisines, exploring new places and new cultures. Plus, you already have a teammate for any adrenaline related-activities.
