Spotted Wing Drosophila
Spotted wing drosophila (SWD) is an invasive pest of many soft-skinned fruit crops, including raspberries, blackberries, grapes, cherries, blueberries, and others. It was first found in Wisconsin in 2010, and by now is expected to be in all counties of the state. For more information, and to stay up to date with current findings about this fruit pest, please see our Spotted Wing Drosophila in Wisconsin informational webpage.
Current Research Projects Include (2017-18):
- SWD spatial and temporal movement within and around raspberries
- Tart cherry varietal susceptibility to SWD
- Potential native enemies for SWD in Wisconsin
