There are many ways to get involved in our lab as an undergraduate.  Many students have completed independent research in our lab for Biology/Zoology 152, research scholars, a senior thesis, or research credit.  Past projects have spanned a large variety of projects and we love when students come to us with an open mind and fresh ideas!

Every summer we also hire undergraduates or recent graduates as full-time summer research assistants, lab technicians, or interns.  Our crew is currently full for the summer of 2019, but stay tuned in spring of 2020 for opportunities. We are generally looking for students who meet the following criteria, although specific requirements can differ by position:

  • Clean driving record that meets UW requirements
  • Coursework or interest biology, agriculture, entomology, or related fields
  • Ability to work independently or in a group
  • Dependability and flexibility in daily schedule as fieldwork may require early mornings/late nights
  • Enjoy working outdoors, willing to work in hot/humid weather
  • Highly motivated with strong attention for detail
  • Ability to lead and troubleshoot problems
  • Previous field research experience is preferred
